Allez Rykiel bag
"ALLEZ RYKIEL! » THE BAG
On 29 September 2018 in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris Mayor, Anne Hidalgo, inaugurated the Allée Sonia Rykiel in front of an international audience of press and longstanding fans of the house.
To celebrate this historic moment, Julie de Libran, Rykiel's artistic director, designed a limited edition bag: the "Allez Rykiel!"
A CATWALK EVENT
This alley is the first Parisian street to bear the name of a fashion designer and one of the few named after a woman. Not just any woman. Sonia Rykiel, was declared by Anne Hidalgo "the most French of all the French", a free and rebellious icon who adored Paris and particularly this spot on the Left Bank.
Journalists, personalities, students and Parisians alike, were all invited to the opening of the Allée, followed by the season’s catwalk show under the traditional tarpaulins of the Marché Raspail, which had taken on the stripes of Rykiel for the occasion .
It was only natural that Julie de Libran should draw inspiration for her collection from this famous weekly organic market. The Allée Sonia Rykiel saw top models walking alongside friends and family to show the spring summer collection in emulation of the Sunday market visit.
ALLEZ RYKIEL! : THE BAG
Julie de Libran reinterprets that Parisian emblem, the market bag, with Rykiel brio . A remembrance at once pop and relaxed, of Sunday strolls. Made in the spirit of 'up-cycling' from the tarpaulins of the colourful cladding from the night. This is more than a tote, it is a part of the history of the house, but also of Paris. Definitively urban, it is a daily companion: it may be a completely new invention but it feels completely, naturally Rykiel
Printed in banana yellow, apple green or sky blue stripes, its bright colours and dramatic stripes make a pop in the concrete jungle!
